The 'Arabic' experience

05.07.08 (Saturday)
Haji Lane
Shopping Spree

I've always heard about Haji Lane that there's a few interesting shops to shop there. But I don't really have the time to go.. well, finally came the chance! I met up with the girls and decided to go on a shopping spree!

The shops are all located at the shophouses. Maybe that's what it makes most of the shops really special. The shops are also nicely dressed up, which further enhance the shopping experience. Well, I was all ready to shop and buy clothes! Who knows.. I didn't spot anything I fancy after walking the whole street. Most of the items are over-priced and it wasn't really nice. What a disappointment! Well, I did in the end walked away with a white top home. LOL. Not my favourite, but it was better than nothing. =p

Spotted this! So cute! I wished to hop inside it!

We then headed to one of the restaurant for some Middle East Cuisine. My 1st time in such a restaurant.. It's a restaurant that is heavily decorated with moroccan lamps, accessories, the orange wall paint.. the musilm customers..

That lump of thing on my left is not a piece of meat.. lol. It's a kind of sauce to go with the 'bread'. I can't remember what is it called though.. Anyway, it looks really weird. Plus I'm not really adventurous for the food that I eat.. Hmm.. it tatse a bit sour.. but overall it still tatse alright la.

As you all know, I really love seafood... SO I ordered this seafood mixed grilled. It looks hot isn't it? But's it not at all. Just the colour...

Michelle ordered this fish fillet..

And Fang orderd this chicken chop..

And after the dinner.. When 3 non-smokers were trying to smoke...

Yesh! That's shisha. You'll see tons of people sitting ard Haji Lane chilling out with a shisha in hand.. The air will smell really fruity and sweet..Well, it really did seems like real fun. So we decided to try! It's our first time trying... And the result?

I was busy choking away by the fumes in my throat! Gosh.. it really taste horrid to me.. never again I'll waste my money on that. LOL. And all of us looks totally uncool and silly.. Hahaha..

That's it for this Arabic tour experience.. The shops, the food and the shisha!

Feel?

"No one can explain how the notes of a Mozart Melody, or a folds of a Titan's drapery, prduce their essential effects. If you do not feel it, no one by reasoning make you feel it. "

- John Ruskin, Mordern Painters

I like how the above simple 2 lines explained what I've always felt as an Interior Designer. Preferences and the judegement of asthetics varies in everyone's eyes. The most challenging part of my my job? That has to be it.

Sacasam of life

An interesting quote I saw on an email:

We make them cry who care for us.
We cry for those who never care for us.
And we care for those who will never cry for us.

Sadly, the above quote might just be the truth. But once we realise it, it's never too late to change. =)

Well, just a penny for thoughts.

溫嵐_口袋

I heard this song when I was watching 超級星光大道第二季. This song was sung by 林宜融 then. Not a fanciful song that would catch many people's attention. Yet its magically makes my heart aches everytime I listen to it.

Not sure if you are able to relate to this song in anyway. But if you does, you most probably have felt what I felt.

Simply love it.

The "I don't know what to do" Friday night

04.07.08
Esplanade
Chilling out

Well, I guess we are all sick of clubbing, pubbing, ktv-ing.. if not, who would buy red wine from 7-Eleven and drink along Esplanade?!

LOL. Yah.. as you all can tell, we are simply bored and don't know what to do.. Anyway, I was busy trying out my new Lumix camera for taking night shots without flash. Well, ended with noisy photos (because adjusted ISO is too high) or blurred photos (shutter-priority is the best for night shots but would need a pair of steady hands if not a tripod). What so ever, out of the many.. below are the few OK shots that I've took. Haha.. really still quite bad..

Obviously.. I still more practice with my camera. =D

Batam trip

09 May 2008 - 11 May 2008
Batam, KTM Resort
Spa Retreat

I think it's time to clear the dust that is accumulating in my blog. Recently, I haven't got much inspiration to blog. Even if I'd blogged, it's left in my "draft folder" unpublished. So this is one of the many posts I had in the draft folder. Nothing interesting.. just a recent (not exactly recent) holiday trip I've took. Haha..

It's a spa retreat to Batam. Indeed, besides doing spa, eating and sleeping.. there's pratically NOTHING you can do there. For someone like me who is always hoping to explore a place when I travel.. this is definately not a place I'd go again.

Luckily the trip was saved by the friends that I went with. Of course, the best part besides doing massage and scrub and then massage again.. is to be able to have quality time with friends. I've always enjoyed that! =)

Below are some of the photos we took..

The resort with sea view. It was small and cosy..

The interior...

Saw this whole stretch of resort? This is where all the spa rooms are located at. Just a short walk from our rooms.

Bathtub for 2..

How can we be short of the massage beds?

I've never really had the full package of spa treatment before. I'd say it's really good. I especially love their body scrubs!

Alright, foot reflexology.. 2nd time that I've did this. Still hurts alot!

The junkie stall..

Haha.. ok.. we did travel out to the city area to do a little shopping.. 40 mins ride to the shopping mall. Well, as expected.. nothing much to shop there. So we decided to try out the manicure services there. It's a salon with all the services you could think of. From hair services, to mani pedi, massages, waxing... It was less than 10 bucks for the classic manicure..

Turned out to be a big big mistake. The staffs were bad with their skills. When they are removing the cuticle, I've felt that they were trying to ripped off my nails! Luckily after much enduring with the pain.. my nails were quite clean after that. But when they paint my nails.. me and my friend nearly falls off our chairs. Worst nail painting I've ever had on my nails. Thick and uneven.. -_-''

When we saw A&W there.. we just couldn't resist the temptation! We can no longer find A&W here in Singapore anymore.. Dinner got to be that!

The day before we left.. we were so bored that we went cam-whoring in the island.

Ask me about the most unforgettable thing for this trip? It has to be the conversion of currency. It never fails to make all things sound extremly expensive. LOL. Well, of course in the actual fact it's not. I've bought the authentic regular Polo tee at just 30 plus bucks! Dirt cheap.. SO you should know what to buy when you are travelling to indonesia next time.. =p

the 'blind' society

Hehe.. I haven't been blogging for long! Suddenly, I've the urge to.. before I left work for the day!

This afternoon after my lunch, I was at POSB bank depositing my 1st pay. YEAP! After waiting for a very long time.. finally I've got my pay.. ><.. LOL. =)

Anyway, that was not the main point. As you'd had expected, queueing in bank at lunch hours is definately a very long wait... So I waited for around 20 mins before it's my turn. When I was at 5th in the row, I saw this old granny walking into the bank panting hard. It was so bad that I thought she'd lost her breath and faint any moment.

When I reached out my hand and asked her is she ok, she just replied that she wanna take her cash from the cheque. She was perspiring badly that her whole arms were wet when I hold her. I became really worried and I was hoping the people in front will let her go first. Well, no one did! Can you believe it?! I was so pissed with the 2 aunties in front! They actually knew that she was unwell, yet did nothing to help her..

It was only after 5 mins that someone actually give her to go first. She then walked to the waiting bench to rest. Then, it was my turn to the teller counter.

After banking, I was hoping to find her sitting at the bench. But she was gone! I rushed out of the bank looking for her.. but was no longer anywhere in sight.

While walking back to the office, I was still feeling worried for that granny. She do not seems like she's able to walk any further.. and I do think she seriously need some help. Someone should at least get her a cab to go home or to a clinic. I mean, how expensive can it be? We are in the centre of singapore.. It's relatively cheap to travel to anywhere.

I do understand that everyone is busy at that hour and everyone needs to rush back to work. But what is another 5 mins bringing that old granny to the cab? Or perhaps 1/2 a minute to check out if she needs help?

I really don't know. The people in this society is turning 'blind'.
